Lakes in Salem

We keep hearing about lakes upgradation/restoration every time.

Kannakurichi lake i.e Mookaneri - Almost restored.
Kannankurich Lake can very well be converted as very good tourist spot, if corporation authorities take steps. Almost all over the year water is there. (Except for some years Apr-May-June it has no water) Parasal service is there with small boat house which are used by fisherman. If we pay some amount they will take us for boating. If you take a mini bus trip from Hastampatti to Karpagam it will take the Lake bank road which is around 1.5 Kms is a spectacular view on entire lake. Members please visit this area by 2 wheeler will definetely enjoyed the ride,(take diversion near Chinna muniappan temple on Kannakurichi main road) particularly in the evening with cool breeze. Some years news came that a water theme park proposal on the banks of this lake, but got only knows the present status. Corporataion also already indicated in its budget that the lake will be improved and a boat house constructed and that also gone to dust bin.

Kumaragiri lake
We can expect some improvement in this by coming years.Almost Kumaragiri lake also having the same status, which also needs to be converted as tourist spot, which is having another attraction near is Kumaragiri temple. Corporation should take steps to run buses from New BS to Kumaragiri foot hills, which will improve the tourism

Pannaimarathupati lake
DPR is prepared, It may take shape in coming years. This Lake itself is surrounded by mountains. Oothumalai from North, Jeragamalai from North east and bothaimalai stretch from South east. Its intake should be from these mountain streams.

My wish the bose maiden exhibition concept should be shifted to some other place and the ground should be used for building city bus routes bus stand, Integrated flower/Vegetable and fruit market with a small square in the middle.

Gvt exhibition can be taken to bye-pass road i.e to 3 roads where Jawahar bill was there.

Hill Temples in Salem

Ootumalai Dhadayuthapani Balasubramaiar temple have road facility. Visitors to this temple is increasing in good no. especially in the evening. I wish TNSTC-SLM give mini bus permit here instead of regular bus. The next hill top we covered was Oothumalai. Here, you could go all the way to the temple by car. Oothumalai is  about 11 kms from Skandasramam. This hill top temple too is dedicated to lord Muruga, assuming the name of Balasubramaniar. It is a small temple, but very interesting for two reasons: Here, Lord Muruga is seen holding the neck of his beloved peacock, a unique posture not to be seen in any other temple. Also, the view from the hill top is amazing and one could capture a good view of Salem town from here.                                         As you descend a few meters, you would notice a small Shiva temple. Next to the linga, on the rocks one would find wonderful engravings of gods and goddesses along with a suyambu Sudharshana chakra. This small se
